Living with CP: the early years part 12.

Hello everyone. I hope everyone is enjoying the day today. Before I get started on today's entry I just want to say if you have someone with Cerebral Palsy or know someone that has it, please don't give up on them because I'm a example that hard work can and does pay off.

A circus.
As I previously mentioned, I had really sensitive hearing.  If we ever got tickets to the circus or anything that could possibly have loud noises, my Grandma would actually go the night before me so she could write down every place there was a loud noise so they would know where to hold my ears. Today, I can go to see fireworks displays and I still jump a little but not like when I was little. I also had a problem with different textures when I was little. Everything I would touch or sit in I would either cry or gag. Grandma knew I could not live my whole life gagging from everything I touched.  In my next few entry's, find out how my Grandma broke me of this.

  1. My daughter has CP and your journal entries are giving me ideas of how else we can help her. She's already getting lots of therapy, but anything we can do to make her life better is a blessing. Thank you so much for sharing your story.

    1. Yes I know how it is. Where are you from? How old is your daughter? I have lots of stories, so hopefully one will help you out even more. Please keep reading and tell your friends and family. Remember don't quit working with her! What's her name?

  2. That Is a cute name, and just a little one too. You have a long way to go, can she walk or talk yet do you know? How's the weather down there?

    1. No walking or talking yet. She's still having some issues with holding her head up and sitting, but she makes a little more progress every day. We had some set backs because of some other medical issues and a lot of time in the hospital. The weather is crazy, going from nice to cold every few days. As soon as the weather gets a little more stable, I'm going to start taking her to the zoo.

  3. Yes you will find that a little progress is better then any, can I ask what kind of issues did she have? Yes the weather here has been the same here, any trip like that to the zoo will help.

  4. Anabelle was born healthy but developed NEC (necrotizing entercolitis) when she was about 2 weeks old, which basically means her bowels began to rot. They did 2 surgeries and ended up taking out half of her bowels, so she has short gut syndrome, which makes getting nutrients into her very difficult. While she was recovering from the surgeries, she began to have problems with seizures and low blood pressures, which caused bleeding in her brain. Hence the CP. She had to be on IV fluids for most of her nutritional needs and the central line they had in kept getting infected. As of now, BB had had more than 20 surgeries, most to replace that central line, and has spent more time in the hospital than I want to think about. Fortunately, the Children's Hospital here is amazing and the nurses are like family to us.
